Ashley sat down with Newsok.com at the L.A press junket to talk ‘Breaking Dawn’ and future projects:
Ashley Greene picked an odd time to cut back her Java intake.
“I’m trying not to drink coffee right now, which it was probably the worst decision as far as timing goes, during a press tour … but I always end up drinking so much, and it’s just not good. And then I don’t feel good,” the “Twilight” star said as she relaxed on a plush couch during a recent one-on-one interview at the Four Seasons Hotel. “But really thinking about it, though, it’s like, what time is a good time?”
The fashionista of the “Twilight” franchise didn’t sound like she needed caffeine as she energetically chatted about “Breaking Dawn — Part 1,” the fourth and penultimate film in the paranormally popular series, as well as her future, nonvampire roles, including an upcoming thriller directed by an Oklahoma filmmaker.
In “The Twilight Saga,” Greene, 24, plays perky Alice Cullen, a vampire who can see the future of humans and other immortals. A fashion enthusiast who loves to throw lavish parties, Alice is thrilled when her adopted brother Edward (Robert Pattinson) weds his human fiancee, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), in “Breaking Dawn — Part 1.”
“She’s planning this wedding, and she has full control of everything, and everything’s a fairy tale. … It was fun going to set every day, you know, because you just have to be extremely happy. A little ball of joy,” said Greene, who looked chic in a pair of dark jeans, a flowing, low-cut red blouse and towering beige heels.
The happily-ever-after reaches to an abrupt end when Bella becomes pregnant on the honeymoon. The impending birth not only threatens Bella’s life — an emergency vampire conversion will be her only hope for survival — it also endangers the Cullen clan’s pact with the local werewolves of the Quileute Tribe, including Bella’s best pal, Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner).
“In this one you get to see both extremes: Her having this fairy tale and then her world kind of crashing down,” Greene said.
Director Bill Condon and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg divided Stephenie Meyer’s hefty fourth and final novel of the “Twilight” series into two halves, and both movies were shot at the same time.
In “Breaking Dawn — Part 2,” due in theaters next November, circumstances force Alice to leave the Cullen coven on a quest.
“I was like, ‘Am I gonna have a job?’” Greene said. “I know what we filmed, but you never know what makes the cut. So, I’m not exactly sure how much Alice is in the second movie, but I will tell you I did have fun filming it. I was there. I am present, definitely.”
Full steam ahead:
Much like her character, the actress has become known as the fashionista of the “Twilight” family.
Last year, Greene became the face of Avon’s “mark” line of cosmetics, and last month she was named the new ambassador for fashion designer Donna Karan’s DKNY and DKNY Jeans.
“It’s a really very organic fit … because mark is all about empowerment for women. They actually have an empowerment program and (are) very just female-driven and strong, and I feel like Donna Karan kind of embodies that whole thing. They’re very complementary of one another, so that’s kind of exciting for me to be able to move forward with both of them.”
Greene also is moving ahead with her post-“Twilight” acting career, starting Dec. 4 with a three-episode arc on ABC’s 1960s-set aviation drama “Pan Am.” She will star in the comedic films “Butter” and “LOL” and recently signed on for “Olivia Twisted,” an ultramodern female version of “Oliver Twist.”
“I think ‘Twilight’ has given us a really good jumping-off point, and one of the things I’m most thankful for — other than the fan base that we’ve developed — is that it gave me the ability to say no and to really sit back and wait for something that was inspiring to me,” she said.
Among the projects she found inspiring: “The Apparition,” the feature film debut from Tulsa writer-director Todd Lincoln.
“It was really fun working with him, and … you could just tell that this was his baby and he was so passionate about it. And Todd actually fought for me on that movie. I met with him, and he was kind of one of the driving forces that got me that role, so (I’m) very thankful for that,” she said.

Ashley and co-star Jackson Rathbone sat down with dinoray.com during their stop in San Francisco for the fan event on November 10th, and talked about Breaking Dawn, their characters and upcoming projects:
In addition to last week’s grainy, shaky-cam coverage of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 event in San Francisco, I had the opportunity to chat with the stars of the movie in a glorious and more intimate roundtable interview setting.
The first pair of stars to face the gauntlet of questions was Ashley Greene (a.k.a. Alice) and Jackson Rathbone (a.k.a. Jasper):
How do you think your characters have evolved since the very first Twilight?
Jackson: It’s a constant evolution. It’s one of the things that first attracted us to the script. It’s lovely to play a character that moves, learns, and grows. Even though we are playing these immortal characters, it’s really lovely for us to grow and learn. With Jasper, he is kind of freaky at first. He doesn’t really know how to deal with humans around. He is trying to embrace this lifestyle because he loves Alice. He wants to be a part of this family. In New Moon, he screws up and almost kills Bella. In Eclipse, he rises up and tries to fight for the family. In Breaking Dawn Part 1, we see Jasper smile which is awesome — and I take this lady (points to Ashley) on the dance floor.
Ashley: Jasper gets to smile and Alice stops smiling for the first time.
Jackson: It’s a flip!
Jackson, right after this press tour, you’re going on tour with your band 100 Monkeys. Do you think you’ll ever take a break?
Jackson: I don’t really believe in down time — well — let me switch that around. I think all of my time is down time because I love what I do. I’m never bored or complacent. One of my favorite poems is “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” by T.S. Elliot. It’s about a man who wishes to change his life but doesn’t have the will to do it. I have always taken that as a queue to never be complacent.
Ashley, you have two movies coming up: LOL and Butter. Are you excited for your fans to see you in different roles?
Ashley: Yeah — I am. LOL is great because it’s a completely different character than Alice. She’s kind of the bad girl. It’s still a high school film and it’s still relatable — but it’s different. It adjusts to modern day technology and the trials that kids are going through now with this instant ability to put pictures online — and the struggle for adults to relate kids these days. Butter is a comedy and it’s a little dark. It’s about butter carving in Iowa which is a really big thing that I never knew existed. That one is really fun — the cast is incredible.
If you had to go back and redo the entire Twilight franchise, and had to play a different character. Who would you be?
Ashley: I wold be Victoria — cause I really liked her character. I know she’s the villain, but I think there are things about her that you can relate to. Someone took away her life partner and you kind of understand why she wants revenge. Villains are so layered and there’s so much going on and there’s always a reason why they are the way they are.
Jackson: I would be Jacob’s dad because he gets to sit the whole time. There are such long hours on set.
Ashley: You would fall asleep.
Jackson: That would be awesome!

Popsugar caught up with Ashley and co at the San Francisco fan event where she talked her upcoming movies including ‘L.O.L’ and ‘Butter’, plus working with Kellan Lutz and Tom Felton in ‘A Warrior’s Heart’ and ‘The Apparition’, respectively:
Ashley on her fans seeing her in other roles: “I think LOL is really great, it’s a completely different character than Alice. She’s kind of a bad girl a little bit but it’s a high school film so it’s still relatable. It was a fun one to do, I think they’ll like it a lot. Butter is a little bit older, it’s a comedy but it’s a little dark. It’s about butter carving in Iowa which is actually a big thing I didn’t even know existed and the cast is just incredible.”
Ashley on working with Kellan Lutz in The Warrior’s Heart: “That was really fun. Kellan is one of my best friends so I’m always game to be able to be on set with him. It’s a really nice thing — I mean I love my job and I love what I do but to be able to be on set with one of your best friends is kind of the cherry on top.”
Ashley on working with Harry Potter’s Tom Felton in The Apparition: “There aren’t a lot of people who have been a part of something like this and who are going through the same things and so he was another person that I could really relate to and talk to about the whole thing. It’s always so nice to see people go through things and be a part of this massive phenomenon and still remain just so sweet and so down to earth. He’s such a phenomenal actor and person, it was a pleasure working with him.”

“With regard to Greene’s performance, Moore teased that moviegoers can expect to see a very different side of the “Breaking Dawn” star.
“She’s saucy, she’s really saucy,” Moore said with a smile, which prompted her “Margin Call” co-star Simon Baker to chime in.

CIRCA 1996: IN THE FLORIDA KEYS
“This brings back really great memories. My family would take us to the Keys every year. We were in one of these little pop-out homes, and I was just so happy. But, man, look at my hair—it was blonde. You wouldn’t even recognize me. Makes me miss Florida.”
