Ashley sat down with Jethro Nededog of THR Sunday night (November 20th) to talk about ‘Breaking Dawn’, her upcoming film ‘Olivia Twisted’ and new arc on ABC’s ‘Pan Am’:

With the beginning of the end of the vampire saga in theatres now, the actress reflects on the experience and discusses what’s to come for her career.

Since she was cast in 2008, Ashley Greene has had the job of stepping into one of the most beloved characters from Stephenie Meyer’s The Twilight Saga novels. As Alice Cullen, she plays Edward’s (Robert Pattinson) closest sibling and possibly Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) fiercest protector next to him and Jacob (Taylor Lautner).

As with any film series based on novels with a rabid fan base, the responsibility must weigh heavily on an actress. For 24-year-old Greene, that seems especially true.

This was my first real job as an actor and in a million years, I never could have dreamed up what Twilight would become,” Greene tells The Hollywood Reporter.

I got a crash course in Hollywood, getting to work with four amazing directors, learning the ups and downs of the industry, and growing both personally and professionally,” she continues. “It gave all of us a springboard for our careers and the most amazing and passionate fan base we could imagine. You can’t take one second of an experience and an opportunity like this for granted. I still wake up every day pinching myself.

On the eve of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1’smassive opening weekend, Greene opened up to THR about the film’s success, her experience being a part of the phenomenon, and what fans can expect from her next.

“Twilight” Week continues here at BAM’s Blog, and with this weekend’s release of the penultimate film in the saga, “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” series star Ashley Greene is looking beyond the “Twilight” phase in her career.

“I think ‘Twilight’ has given us a really good jumping off point, and one of the things I’m most thankful for — other than the fan base that we’ve developed — is that it gave me the ability to say no and to really sit back and wait for something that was inspiring to me and that was different and that I was passionate about,” she told me in an exclusive, one-on-one interview at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles during the recent press day for the film.

I think that’s one of most tragic things is when you have to take a (role). You know, it’s hard to say no to a job if you can’t pay your rent, and sometimes that kind of tarnishes someone’s career a little bit, I think. So I’ve been lucky enough to really sit back with my team and say you know, ‘What do we think about this?’ and ‘Does this character interest you?’ and ‘Is the film as a whole great, and who’s directing it?’ and just really look at all the elements. I think the most important thing right now is to kind of create longevity and to be really smart about the choices that I’m making.

Greene’s post-“Twilight” acting career is starting Dec. 4 with a three-episode arc on ABC’s 1960s-set aviation drama “Pan Am.” She recently signed on for “Olivia Twisted,” an ultramodern female version of “Oliver Twist.”

She also stars in the comedic films “Butter” with Jennifer Garner and Hugh Jackman and “LOL” with Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore.

I’m very interested in comedy,” she said, adding that “Butter” was the first project “that I was terrified, but it ended being really fun. You know, I took the role and then was like ‘Oh my God, what am I doing? I don’t know what I’m doing.’ You know, it was all very new. I’m still learning every day and taking different parts that I’ve never done.

Another project she found inspiring: “The Apparition,” the feature film debut from Tulsa writer-director Todd Lincoln. who created the hit deadCenter Film Festival documentary “Biker Fox.” In Lincoln’s thriller, she and Sebastian Stan play a couple terrorized by a supernatural force that feeds on their fears.

“It was really fun working with him, and … you could just tell that this was his baby and he was so passionate about it. And Todd actually fought for me on that movie. I met with him, and he was kind of one of the driving forces that got me that role, so (I’m) very thankful for that,” she said.

She also said that she’s thankful to have one more “Twilight” film coming up: “Breaking Dawn: Part 2″ opens in theaters Nov. 16, 2012.

I think the end of ‘Twilight’ is like the beginning of the rest of my career. I think inevitably there’s gonna be that piece of me that’s missing. I feel like because ‘Twilight’s’ become such a huge part of my world and it’s all I’ve know for the past four years, it’s like leaving high school a bit. You’re very excited about it, but you still know that you’re gonna kind of miss it. It’s a very huge change that’s going to happen. But I’m very optimistic about it and very excited about it, and I at least know that next year we have another one coming out. So even though I’ve kind of had to shelf the Alice Cullen character — which is a little difficult — I’m still gonna have these events and press junkets and cast dinners and premieres and stuff like that. They’re kind of weaning us off it rather than just cold turkey.

Ashley sat down with Newsok.com at the L.A press junket to talk ‘Breaking Dawn’ and future projects:

Ashley Greene picked an odd time to cut back her Java intake.

I’m trying not to drink coffee right now, which it was probably the worst decision as far as timing goes, during a press tour … but I always end up drinking so much, and it’s just not good. And then I don’t feel good,” the “Twilight” star said as she relaxed on a plush couch during a recent one-on-one interview at the Four Seasons Hotel. “But really thinking about it, though, it’s like, what time is a good time?

The fashionista of the “Twilight” franchise didn’t sound like she needed caffeine as she energetically chatted about “Breaking Dawn — Part 1,” the fourth and penultimate film in the paranormally popular series, as well as her future, nonvampire roles, including an upcoming thriller directed by an Oklahoma filmmaker.

In “The Twilight Saga,” Greene, 24, plays perky Alice Cullen, a vampire who can see the future of humans and other immortals. A fashion enthusiast who loves to throw lavish parties, Alice is thrilled when her adopted brother Edward (Robert Pattinson) weds his human fiancee, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), in “Breaking Dawn — Part 1.”

She’s planning this wedding, and she has full control of everything, and everything’s a fairy tale. … It was fun going to set every day, you know, because you just have to be extremely happy. A little ball of joy,” said Greene, who looked chic in a pair of dark jeans, a flowing, low-cut red blouse and towering beige heels.

The happily-ever-after reaches to an abrupt end when Bella becomes pregnant on the honeymoon. The impending birth not only threatens Bella’s life — an emergency vampire conversion will be her only hope for survival — it also endangers the Cullen clan’s pact with the local werewolves of the Quileute Tribe, including Bella’s best pal, Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner).

In this one you get to see both extremes: Her having this fairy tale and then her world kind of crashing down,” Greene said.

Director Bill Condon and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg divided Stephenie Meyer’s hefty fourth and final novel of the “Twilight” series into two halves, and both movies were shot at the same time.

In “Breaking Dawn — Part 2,” due in theaters next November, circumstances force Alice to leave the Cullen coven on a quest.

I was like, ‘Am I gonna have a job?’” Greene said. “I know what we filmed, but you never know what makes the cut. So, I’m not exactly sure how much Alice is in the second movie, but I will tell you I did have fun filming it. I was there. I am present, definitely.

Full steam ahead:

Much like her character, the actress has become known as the fashionista of the “Twilight” family.

Last year, Greene became the face of Avon’s “mark” line of cosmetics, and last month she was named the new ambassador for fashion designer Donna Karan’s DKNY and DKNY Jeans.

It’s a really very organic fit … because mark is all about empowerment for women. They actually have an empowerment program and (are) very just female-driven and strong, and I feel like Donna Karan kind of embodies that whole thing. They’re very complementary of one another, so that’s kind of exciting for me to be able to move forward with both of them.

Greene also is moving ahead with her post-“Twilight” acting career, starting Dec. 4 with a three-episode arc on ABC’s 1960s-set aviation drama “Pan Am.” She will star in the comedic films “Butter” and “LOL” and recently signed on for “Olivia Twisted,” an ultramodern female version of “Oliver Twist.”

I think ‘Twilight’ has given us a really good jumping-off point, and one of the things I’m most thankful for — other than the fan base that we’ve developed — is that it gave me the ability to say no and to really sit back and wait for something that was inspiring to me,” she said.

Among the projects she found inspiring: “The Apparition,” the feature film debut from Tulsa writer-director Todd Lincoln.

It was really fun working with him, and … you could just tell that this was his baby and he was so passionate about it. And Todd actually fought for me on that movie. I met with him, and he was kind of one of the driving forces that got me that role, so (I’m) very thankful for that,” she said.

Collider got a chance to talk to Ashley during the ‘Breaking Dawn: Part I: press junket in L.A last week. Below is their interview with her:

In the Twilight Saga films, actress Ashley Greene plays fan favorite character Alice Cullen, the typically upbeat supporter of Edward Cullen’s (Robert Pattinson) true love Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart). In The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Pt. 1, Alice starts out as the ray of sunshine she’s become known for, planning Edward and Bella’s lavish wedding, only to become increasingly worried and frustrated, as Bella’s surprise pregnancy keeps her from being able to see the future.

During this exclusive interview with Collider, Ashley Greene talked about how the relationships that she formed will be what she remembers most strongly about the entire Twilight experience, how’s she learned to better cope with all of the attention that she receives as a result of the huge success of the films, the special gifts that she’s been given by the fans, what she thought of Alice’s dress and her dance at the wedding, and what it was like to explore another side of her character. She also talked about wanting to always do work that she’s passionate about, and how she’ll shoot Olivia Twisted, a dark and gritty action film that is a female-driven modern version of Oliver Twist, next year. Check out what she had to say after the jump:
