Ashley sat down with Jethro Nededog of THR Sunday night (November 20th) to talk about ‘Breaking Dawn’, her upcoming film ‘Olivia Twisted’ and new arc on ABC’s ‘Pan Am’:

With the beginning of the end of the vampire saga in theatres now, the actress reflects on the experience and discusses what’s to come for her career.

Since she was cast in 2008, Ashley Greene has had the job of stepping into one of the most beloved characters from Stephenie Meyer’s The Twilight Saga novels. As Alice Cullen, she plays Edward’s (Robert Pattinson) closest sibling and possibly Bella’s (Kristen Stewart) fiercest protector next to him and Jacob (Taylor Lautner).

As with any film series based on novels with a rabid fan base, the responsibility must weigh heavily on an actress. For 24-year-old Greene, that seems especially true.

This was my first real job as an actor and in a million years, I never could have dreamed up what Twilight would become,” Greene tells The Hollywood Reporter.

I got a crash course in Hollywood, getting to work with four amazing directors, learning the ups and downs of the industry, and growing both personally and professionally,” she continues. “It gave all of us a springboard for our careers and the most amazing and passionate fan base we could imagine. You can’t take one second of an experience and an opportunity like this for granted. I still wake up every day pinching myself.

On the eve of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1’smassive opening weekend, Greene opened up to THR about the film’s success, her experience being a part of the phenomenon, and what fans can expect from her next.

A Thousand Words with ‘Twilight’ Stars

Sun, 11.20.11 | 9:45:43 am

Part one of “Breaking Dawn,” the latest in the “Twilight” movie series, comes out today. On Nov. 9, cast members made a stop in Dallas, where more than 300 screaming fans awaited.

Cast members Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen), Nikki Reed (Rosalie Hale), Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale) and Charlie Bewley (Demetri Volturi), answered questions about the set, filming and life as a movie star:

Q: Many of your fans are passionate; do you have any crazy stories?

Greene: I actually got my hair pulled the other day, and I spent a lot of time growing that. And marriage proposals, they’re always insane. I got one from a woman who asked if I would marry her husband.

Q: Do you do any rituals before filming or get into character?

Greene: I think for me going and sitting for two hours to get hair and makeup, the contacts, the wig; if that doesn’t get you into character, I don’t know what does.

Q: If you weren’t acting, what would you be doing?

Greene: Oh gosh, I’d probably be homeless. No, psychology always interested me finding out how the human mind works, so yeah.

Q: How are you most like your character?

Greene: I think I’m honestly related to how much she loves her family and I’m very close to my family.

Q: Which of the “Twilight” movies is your favorite?

Greene: I’m going to go with “Twilight” because it’s where I first met all these guys and it’s the book I fell in love with, all the characters in the franchise, especially Alice. Oh, and especially Jasper; I’m in love with Jasper.

Fans of the “Twilight” movies – Twihards – can tell you: Don’t be fooled and think that Alice Cullen is soft. Sure, she’s petite, and she has that short pixieish haircut and a killer fashion sense – but this vampire won’t back down from a fight.

The same can be said of Ashley Greene. In the past four years of “Twilight” movies, she has become a breakout star, a cover girl and a fan favorite in portraying the beloved Alice, the sister of Edward and BFF of Bella.

Just don’t misjudge Greene because you’ve seen her on the cover of Glamour or Cosmopolitan with the face and figure of a model with long, flowing brown hair.

This is a gal who gave one of her first crushes a bloody lip while showing off her taekwondo skills.

I was always a big tomboy. I was always wanting to do what my older brother was doing, and I was always following him around trying to be better than him – which was hard to do – but it made me super-competitive,” said Greene in a phone interview last week.

My mom tried to put me into dance, and I just had to tell her: Look, (my brother is) into martial arts, and that’s what I want to be into.

She said she’s appreciated the opportunity to create nuances for the character of Alice that aren’t found in the book – and that fans who are as passionate as those for “Twilight” have gone along with those subtle changes.

You create your own world,” she said of her vision of Alice, which she has worked to create with the film’s four different directors. “I’ve enjoyed some of the things that I’ve been able to create, and maybe the most recognizable is the baseball scene (from the first film, “Twilight,” with Alice on the mound exhibiting her full windup for the Cullen family batters).

When my leg went up in the air (while pitching), that was not something planned, but it just sort of came along, and people really talked about that, (because they know Alice) as this girl who’s supposed to be so dainty and comes from this ballerina background.

Her favorite scene in “Breaking Dawn-Part 1,” the fourth film in the series opening Friday, should be obvious. The wedding of Bella to Edward is a centerpiece of the film, and the spunky, whimsical Alice is tasked with designing everything – right down to Bella’s wardrobe for the honeymoon.

Alice did good,” Greene said with a chuckle. “It was just so special and so beautiful. And the dancing, that was so good. Jackson (Rathbone, who plays Jasper, Alice’s soulmate) is just so skilled as a dancer that it made it that much more fun.

Greene is prepared to move on to non-Alice roles, but she assures that she hasn’t seen the last of her “Twilight” family. “Throughout this process, I’ve grown up quite a bit, and I’ve grown up with these people, and that’s a good thing,” she said.

We’re the type of people that when we started this, we would hang out between films, and that’s one of the things that hasn’t changed. It’s been a really fulfilling process to be part of something this large and the (this? ) life-changing, and to do (it? ) in the way that we’ve all been able to get along. It’s really been a blessing.

Ashley Greene will be best known for her portrayals of Alice Cullen in the “Twilight” films for some time. But her first movie in which she has the leading role comes next year in a movie directed by Tulsa native filmmaker Todd Lincoln.

“Apparition,” the first feature film directed by the co-founder of the long-running Tulsa Overground Film Festival, is a supernatural thriller in which Greene stars with Sebastian Stan (“Gossip Girl”) and Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” movies).

We just got a release date for ‘Apparition’ for Aug. 24 (2012). I really loved working with Todd, and I was very grateful for him being involved in my first movie in which I’m the top name above the credits,” Greene said.

Working with him was fun, because he was so passionate, and he was so committed to it not as much being a horror film as much as it being a great thriller. He would talk to us about films like ‘Poltergeist’ and ‘Rosemary’s Baby,’ about films that aren’t so much gory but that are disturbing.”

As for it being my first studio leading role, I’m equally excited and terrified. But I’ve seen the finished product, and now I’m excited for everyone else to see it too.

Ashley Greene’s Popsugar Interview

Mon, 11.14.11 | 12:18:28 pm

Popsugar caught up with Ashley and co at the San Francisco fan event where she talked her upcoming movies including ‘L.O.L’ and ‘Butter’, plus working with Kellan Lutz and Tom Felton in ‘A Warrior’s Heart’ and ‘The Apparition’, respectively:

Ashley on her fans seeing her in other roles: “I think LOL is really great, it’s a completely different character than Alice. She’s kind of a bad girl a little bit but it’s a high school film so it’s still relatable. It was a fun one to do, I think they’ll like it a lot. Butter is a little bit older, it’s a comedy but it’s a little dark. It’s about butter carving in Iowa which is actually a big thing I didn’t even know existed and the cast is just incredible.”

Ashley on working with Kellan Lutz in The Warrior’s Heart: “That was really fun. Kellan is one of my best friends so I’m always game to be able to be on set with him. It’s a really nice thing — I mean I love my job and I love what I do but to be able to be on set with one of your best friends is kind of the cherry on top.”

Ashley on working with Harry Potter’s Tom Felton in The Apparition: “There aren’t a lot of people who have been a part of something like this and who are going through the same things and so he was another person that I could really relate to and talk to about the whole thing. It’s always so nice to see people go through things and be a part of this massive phenomenon and still remain just so sweet and so down to earth. He’s such a phenomenal actor and person, it was a pleasure working with him.”
